As a fashionista I LOVE awards season. It's a chance to see some of the most beautiful people in the most beautiful creations. The Oscars happen to be a personal favorite because everyone pulls out all the stops.
This year's Oscars red carpet was full of goods, a few bads, and a definite WTF?!?
My best dressed choice is Naomi Watts in Armani Prive. She looks stunning. The dress is exquisite and fits her so well. I especially love the cutout. Great job on the hair as well...the dress is the statement and her hair is a beautiful compliment. Perfection!
My extremely close second best dressed is Charlize Theron in Dior. OMG, I don't think this woman can EVER look bad. This Dior gown does nothing but flatter her statuesque figure with it's deep V and embellished peplum. What I love the most? She's not wearing a necklace so it's a clean, simple line making her look even more tall and beautiful.
Jessica Chastain was old Hollywood glam and she looked amazing. That gorgeous, wavy hair, her beautiful skin tone, a bold lip...what more could you ask for? She's also wearing an Armani Prive dress and went simple with the jewels. LOVE!
Reese Witherspoon was such a breath of fresh air in this bold blue gown. Her blonde hair was the perfect accessory in a retro sideswept do. She said in her red carpet interview that her daughter helped pick out her dress. Seems like someone has good taste at such a young age. Her dress was made by Louis Vuitton.
I'm not crazy about Jennifer Lawrence's choice for the Academy Awards. She looks great if she were going to her high school prom. So disappointing! Where's the bombshell from the Oscars a few years ago? I want her back!
Ok, we all love Jennifer Aniston. She's America's Sweetheart, and she's got great hair...but seriously? It's the Oscars. Can't she do a little bit more to her hair? She looks great and the dress is fabulous...but I really expected more.
Halle Berry...did you think you were reliving your pageant days from the 1980s? What is this? Well, technically it's Versace...with shoulder pads...but still....???
Oh boy, Anne Hathaway. WTF happened? She's nominated...she should be in the most exquisite gown. This looked terrible on the red carpet (the image actually makes it seem much better than it really was). The necklace with the high neckline? Who let her out of the house looking like this? And she mentioned on the red carpet she decided on the gown 3 hours beforehand because it "spoke to her". Maybe next time she should listen to a stylist.
So that's my fashion roundup, but I do have a few honorable mentions: Samantha Barks, Sally Field, Jennifer Hudson, Catherine Zeta Jones, and Salma Hayek.
What were some of your favorites?
