Well, my title is a bit deceiving, because I do care. I've heard time and time again "embrace your curls and your natural texture." Thats much easier said than done for me. I'm the kind of girl who wishes she had just a slight wave to her hair, so she could let it air dry to that awesomely textured, carefree, beachy style. That's totally not me. One wrong move while styling my hair, and I look like a poodle. Don't get me wrong, I like big curly hair...just not frizzy and dried.
If you've kept up with me thus far in my blogging journey, you are well aware of the love/hate relationship with my hair. Recently, I've decided to open myself up to styling my hair curly more often. Doesn't sound so hard, I know, but it's quite difficult for me. It's honestly a self-esteem thing: I feel much more confident with sleek straight hair or maybe with a bit of a wave or bend at the tips to give it bounce...but a full head of curls...ehh, not so much. I don't know why...I just don't feel the same. Am I crazy? Yeah, probably. I'm working on it though.
So, in order to become more accepting of my natural texture, I began experimenting with different products and methods of styling curly hair. Learning to control my curls and what level of crazy and poofy I want, has helped me become more accepting of going au natural...and ok, I'll admit it, some days I'm in love with my curls!
Below are the steps I use to style my hair. Click each picture and hover your mouse over the image to read the captions. I must give a huge shout-out to my stylist Cassie Harwood from Salon Ruggeri here in NYC for introducing me to EVO Liquid Rollers. Not only is it an amazing styling product for curly hair, it smells heavenly...and we all know how picky I am about smells!
