What I've Learned in 2015
Can you believe another year has come and gone? I can't. How can 12 months seem to pass by so quickly? The older I get, the quicker it goes! Time is so very precious and it's one thing we definitely shouldn't take for granted.
Looking back is something most people do right before the start of a new year. I like to do a little self-reflection and evaluate my year...how have I grown, what did I accomplish, where can I improve, did I meet my goals, what have I gained, what have I lost, where did I succeed and where did I fail, what did I learn? Well, here's what I've learned...
1. Let the small stuff go.
Because that's exactly what it is...small stuff. Once all is said and done, the small stuff is meaningless and isn't worth the time and effort. Sweat the big stuff, it's BIG stuff; but, don't get wrapped up in insignificant bullshit. LET.IT.GO.
2. Take chances
As long as they aren't on a skateboard! Life is short, take a risk! What's the worst that could happen? Life will move on anyway, whether your risk was a success or not.
3. Be Prepared
This goes hand-in-hand with taking chances. Be prepared for life in general, don't get blindsided because you live in a bubble or are in denial. Life isn't always rainbows and sunshine. Shit happens, be prepared for it.
4. Cherish Time
It's the one thing we all wish we had more of. Spend it wisely; you never know when time will be up.
5. Apologize first.
Dennis and I are both stubborn when we're arguing and can go days without speaking to each other. It's so fucked up, but it's the truth! However, I've learned to apologize first. Is proving my point by taking a vow of silence really that important? More than likely not...swallow that pride and say "I'm sorry."
6. Embrace who you really are.
Be yourself. Every day. Be the weird, crazy, sarcastic, twisted, awkward person you really are.
And finally...
7. Be Patient...
Goodbye 2015...it's been swell!
Cheers to 2016!
Happy New Year everyone!
