Sunday Funday
I suck at mini golf. Like 10 strokes on a par three suck. My husband? He conveniently forgets his total number of strokes, so he only sucks at keeping score. After losing two rounds, I decided the range is more of my thing...light strokes and accuracy clearly aren't. I did get a hole-in-one though. And the hubs didn't =) So, I at least have that to brag about.
Afterwards, we headed over to a cajun restaurant we've been meaning to try. Dennis has loved cajun food since visiting New Orleans several years ago and was definitely more excited than I was. When I think of cajun, I think of hot/spicy, crawfish, and sausage; all of which I'm not very thrilled about. I may have grown out of my "selective food disorder," but there's still a few I struggle with. Usually when I'm in a situation like this, I just order a ton of sides and apps to graze on........ok, I'm lying.....to gorge on. I ordered red beans and rice, fried pickles, hush puppies, and fried okra. To top it off, Dennis ordered beignets. Now I can usually put down a decent amount of food, but I had to get to-go boxes for about half of everything. I stuffed myself until I couldn't breathe...it was just too much. I clearly have a problem.
It turned out to be a great Sunday. It was sunny and warm, I was walking. The most interesting part of the day, to me, was watching this family of four interact at the mini golf course. They were holding us all up because they weren't moving through the holes quick enough (there were about 4 groups waiting), and the parents were becoming really frustrated at their kids because they were goofing off, and the kids were whining and complaining that they couldn't spend more time at each hole. I nudged Dennis and said "that's going to be us in a few years." As soon as the words came out of my mouth, my heart melted. Surprised? I was too. Think that clock's starting to tick.
